Avoid attaching hand, but still have other hand attached

Hi,

I'm trying to get "holding an object, and using other hand to interact with paranted child object on the same object" to work.

But when I try to interact with this child object, it just attached the hand to the parent object I'm holding in my hand, thus changing hand.

What I want to be able to is to check if the child object is near the NVRHand and then choose not to attach to that hand, but there doesn't seem to be a way to "not attach".

I've tried to say attachhand = null and stuff, but that just make everything go nuts.
